About Me

Welcome to Recipe By Daisy

Hi, I’m Daisy Harper, and I’m so glad you’ve found your way here! Recipe By Daisy is my little corner of the internet where I share recipes that bring comfort, joy, and delicious flavors to everyday life. Whether you’re a seasoned home cook or just starting your culinary journey, I’m here to help you create meals that make your kitchen the heart of your home.

Our Story

My love for cooking didn’t start in the kitchen—it started at my family’s dining table in Vancouver. Growing up as the middle child of five, dinnertime was pure chaos in the best possible way. My parents worked demanding jobs, but my mom had this incredible gift for turning simple, budget-friendly ingredients into meals that somehow tasted like magic. I remember watching her transform a handful of pantry staples into a bubbling casserole or a batch of cookies that disappeared within minutes.

When I turned twelve, Mom started teaching me her “secret weapons”—those reliable recipes she could make with her eyes closed. At first, I was just her sous chef, chopping vegetables and stirring pots. But then came the day she handed me full control of Sunday breakfast. I made scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, and my first-ever batch of pancakes (only slightly burned on one side!). The pride I felt when my siblings actually asked for seconds changed everything.

Throughout high school and college, cooking became my stress relief, my creative outlet, and my way of showing love. When I moved into my first apartment, my kitchen was barely bigger than a closet, but I cooked in it every single day. Friends would drop by for “Daisy’s famous mac and cheese” or “those cookies you made last time,” and I realized that food has this beautiful power to bring people together.

After getting married and starting a family of my own, I began documenting my recipes—partly so I wouldn’t forget my own creations, and partly because friends kept asking me to share them. Recipe By Daisy was born from those scribbled recipe cards and late-night cooking experiments. Now, I get to share the joy of homemade cooking with all of you.

Our Philosophy

At Recipe By Daisy, I believe that cooking should be enjoyable, not stressful. You don’t need fancy equipment or hard-to-find ingredients to create something wonderful. My philosophy is simple:

  • Real food for real life: Recipes that work with busy schedules and real-world kitchens
  • Flexibility is key: Most of my recipes include substitution suggestions because I know everyone’s pantry is different
  • Taste comes first: If it doesn’t taste amazing, it doesn’t make it onto the blog
  • Cooking should bring joy: I want you to actually enjoy the process, not just the end result

Meet Daisy

When I’m not in the kitchen, you’ll find me exploring farmers’ markets with my family, attempting to keep my herb garden alive (it’s a work in progress!), or curled up with a good cookbook and a cup of tea. I live in Vancouver with my wonderful husband, our two energetic kids, and a very food-motivated golden retriever named Biscuit.

I’m completely self-taught, which means I’ve made every mistake in the book—and I’m here to help you avoid them! My kitchen isn’t perfect, my photos aren’t always Instagram-worthy, and sometimes dinner is just cheese and crackers. But that’s real life, and that’s exactly what Recipe By Daisy celebrates.
